“The brochure “Disability in the Media””

The brochure “Disability in the Media” was developed by the United Nations Development Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the community of people with disabilities, journalists, and representatives of UN agencies, and approved by the Council for Persons with Disabilities under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The main goal of this publication is to raise awareness among media workers (journalists, specialists in communications, bloggers, and others) about disability representation in the media. This brochure reveals the concept of disability and presents different approaches to its perception, introducing readers to the human rights-based approach to people with disabilities and the key principles of disability representation in different media resources.

This publication is intended for a wide audience; it is aimed at changing society's attitude towards people with disabilities and creating a truly inclusive society.

“UNCT ANNUAL RESULTS KYRGYZ REPUBLIC REPORT 2022”
“Country programme document for the Kyrgyz Republic (2023-2027)”

The Kyrgyz Republic is a mountainous lower-middle-income country that aspires to
accelerate socioeconomic development for higher levels of human development and
wellbeing of citizens, economic prosperity by 2040, and net zero climate neutrality by 2050.
Due to it being landlocked, small in size, and with low levels of industrialization and trade
dependency, the country is vulnerable to external shocks.

“UN COMMON COUNTRY ANALYSIS UPDATE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC”

The CCA Update for the Kyrgyz Republic provides an overall assessment of key gaps and trends in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development1 since the formulation of the 2016 CCA. The intention of the CCA Update is not to reassess those aspects of the 2016 CCA that continue to be valid, including the assessment of the human rights protection framework and mechanisms of the Kyrgyz Republic, but to focus primarily on new data, analyses and issues that have emerged in the last three years and which can inform UN programming for the remaining period of the UNDAF 2018-2022.
