National consultations on the Draft National Action Plan for Achieving Gender Equality for 2025-2027

On October 29, 2024, as part of implementing the National Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for Achieving Gender Equality by 2030, national consultations were held to discuss the draft National Action Plan for Achieving Gender Equality for 2025-2027 (NAP). The event was initiated by the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, the coordinating state agency in the field of gender policy.

The consultations brought together representatives from government bodies, local authorities, civil society, international organizations, and gender policy experts.

“To develop a new National Action Plan, the Ministry, with the support of the InKoom Project, held several meetings of the interdepartmental working group in September of this year. These meetings resulted in a roadmap for creating the new three-year action plan. The main goal of the interdepartmental group meetings was to gather and refine proposals for including tasks and activities in the draft National Action Plan. Additionally, workshops and regional consultations were held on priority areas. The new National Action Plan aims to become a strategic guideline for government agencies, international partners, and civil society in implementing gender equality measures in the Kyrgyz Republic,” said Chyngyz Mamatbek uulu, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, in his speech.

“The draft of the new National Action Plan for Achieving Gender Equality for 2025-2027 is based on your suggestions and includes, like the previous NAP, five priority areas:

Expanding women’s economic opportunities;
Cultural policy and functional education;
Eradicating discrimination and expanding access to justice;
Enhancing women’s political participation;
Regulatory policy in gender equality.
These priority areas focus on current issues related to the gender aspects of climate change, inclusive development, and digitalization,” said Zulfiya Kochorbaeva, coordinator of the expert group, in her speech.

The new National Action Plan aims to be a strategic guide for government bodies, international partners, and civil society in implementing gender equality measures.

During the development of the National Action Plan for Achieving Gender Equality for 2025-2027, the EU project “InKoom – To promote fair and inclusive society in Kyrgyzstan” provides technical and expert support.

National consultations are held with the support of the “Civil Engagement for Development” project funded by the SDC.
