On 14 February 2024, Programme Coordinator of the Social Technologies Agency Baktygul Islanbekova acted as a gender expert at the webinar “Sharing Experience and Best Practices on Gender and Climate Reporting: Armenia and Kyrgyzstan”.
In her presentation, the expert spoke about Kyrgyzstan’s experience in mainstreaming gender into the implementation plan of the NDCs, or nationally determined contributions – an action plan for reducing emissions and adapting to climate change. Each party to the Paris Agreement is required to develop an INDC and update it every five years.
NDC have an important role to play in achieving a low-carbon world by 2050. NDC can be an important tool for advancing gender equality and sustainable development. These national climate change commitments provide an opportunity to strengthen the integration of gender-sensitive measures into countries’ plans to address the climate crisis.
